Abstract:
This paper focuses on improving the income distribution pattern and solidly promoting common prosperity. Based on the research perspectives of “two-dimensional orientation” and “triple approach”, this paper adopts China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) data and examines the inherent relationship between healthcare security compensation and the income gap. The findings are as follows: improving the compensation level of healthcare security benefits can significantly narrow the income gap, and have a positive effect on consolidating the achievements of poverty alleviation and promoting common prosperity. Heterogeneity test shows that while healthcare insurance compensation improves income distribution, there are also differences in the impact of individual health, hospital level, and regional characteristics; Mechanism analysis shows that health performance and economic costs are important channels for healthcare benefits policies to affect income inequality, which can be alleviated by narrowing the health gap, reducing out of pocket expenses, and mitigating the burden of major illnesses.
