Abstract:

In response to the discussion articles by Lei Qianzhi and Ji Xiang, this article responds from three aspects: Firstly, the special setting of labour-power as a commodity weakens the inherent unity of the Labour Theory of Value, and Marx's two definitions of the value of labour-power commodity have certain contradictions within the original theoretical framework; Secondly, the concepts of “man” and “labourer” are different, that is, what becomes a commodity is the social "labourer" rather than the physiological “man”; Finally, an analysis is conducted on the value of labour-power commodities, especially education, pointing out the difficulties in measuring value and the necessity for further research. This article believes that constructing a Labourer Commodity Theory is of great significance for analyzing contemporary capitalist social issues using the Labour Theory of Value.
