Theoretical Dilemmas, Paradigm Innovation and China's Solutionsfor the Supply of International Public Goods from the Perspectiveof Humanistic Economics
    LIU Jiali, WU Ziming
    2026, 01 (02):  1.
    Abstract ( 80 )   PDF (714KB) ( 58 )
Against the backdrop of in-depth adjustments to the global govermance system and the aecelerated restruc.turing of civilizations, the supply of intermational public goods faces multiple challenges, including chaotic narrative logicdominated by capital logic, the loss of value attributes, imbalanced supply-demand structures, and divergences in supplyconcepts. New-era humanistic economics, grounded in “the free and comprehensive development of human beings”, isrooted in Marxist political economy, integrates the humanistic genes of fine traditional Chinese culture, and is built uporthe practice of socialism with Chinese characteristics. It has constructed a theoretical framework of China's independenknowledge system of economics, proposing a transformative path for paradigm innovation: replacing “ capital logic” withpeople-oriented logic” , transcending the “ illusory community” with the “ community with a shared future for mankind”responding to “ pseudo- multilateralism" with “ pluralistic co-goverance", and resolving “ civilizational conflicts" witcivilizational mutual learing". Through a series of dynamic practices, China is translating new-era humanistic economicslrom theoretical innovation into goverance effectiveness, providing new ideas and solutions for promoting the construction oa more fair and reasonable global economic governance system, demonstrating the theoretical contribution of China's independent knowledge system of economics.

The Theoretical Origins and Disciplinary Orientation of Humanistic Economics ofSocialism with Chinese Characteristics
    BAI Yongxiu, ZHU Shanshan
    2026, 01 (02):  17.
    Abstract ( 47 )   PDF (666KB) ( 46 )
Socialist humanistic economics with Chinese characteristics constitutes the latest achievement of the Communist Party of China in integrating the fundamental tenets of Marxism with China's fine traditional culture. The theoreticaorigins of socialist humanistic economics with Chinese characteristics are mainly reflected in three dimensions: first, the humanistic economic thought within the fundamental tenets of Marxism; second, the humanistic heritage of the fine traditionalChinese culture; and third, the beneficial elements of humanistic factors in Westerm economics. Clarifying the disciplinarypositioning of socialist humanistic economics with Chinese characteristics is a crucial prerequisite for constructing its academic framework. Within the architecture of the independent knowledge system of Chinese economics, Chinese Economicsserves as a comprehensive theoretical discipline at the primary level. Socialist political economy with Chinese characteristics, as its core sub-discipline , constitutes a secondary-level discipline, while socialist humanistic economics with Chinesecharacteristics, being a vital branch of the former, operates at the tertiary level. Developing socialist humanistic economicswith Chinese characteristics serves not only as the theoretical foundation for constructing independent knowledge system olChinese economics, but also as a practical imperative for advancing Chinese modernization.

The Logical Trajectory of the “Two Integrations”: A Threefold OntologicalTranscendence of Humanistic Economics in the New Era
    LUO Siliang, ZHOU Ganbing
    2026, 01 (02):  30.
    Abstract ( 47 )   PDF (824KB) ( 42 )
The theoretical innovation of humanistic economics in the new era represents a deepening of the practice olthe “Two Integrations”-integrating the basic tenets of Marxism with China's specific realities and with the best of its traditional culture-and, at the ontological level, unfolds as a threefold logic of transcendence in value creation, subject formation, and development goals. Within the ontological framework of humanistic economics in the new era, the understandingof value creation breaks through the traditional paradigm centered on the “ animality of labor”and emphasizes the embed.dedness and transformative power of humanistic values in economic practice. The redelinition of the economic subject establishes the image of the “culturally embedded practicing person,” in which reality, historicity, and culturality are integrated, and stresses the existential sigmificanee of individuals within historical and cultural networks. The upgrading of development goals signals that “ the modermization of the people” has replaced “the modernization of things” as the core demand oChinese modernization, and that a people-centered orientation of goals is embodied in a multi-dimensional system of indicators such as sense of gain, happiness, and security. This threefold transcendence not only responds to the humanistic predicament of Western economic theories but also deepens the theoretical lineage of Marxist political economy adapted to theChinese context. In constructing a multi-dimensional system for high-quality development, taking “ cultural persons” as thestarting point for economic institutional design, and envisioning a “delivering a better life for the people” modernity, humanistic economics in the new era provides an ontological framework that combines deep cultural roots with a future-orien.ted vision, thereby guiding cultural consciousness and practical innovation in the process of building Chinesemodernization.

    2026, 01 (02):  45.
    Abstract ( 75 )   PDF (721KB) ( 55 )
The coordinated advancement of new-type industrialization ,new-type urbanization, and comprehensiverural revitalization is a core pathway to achieving, Chinese-style modernization and common prosperity. However, the implementation of these three strategies is hampered by significant negative externalities and challenges arising from their heterogeneity, which constrain their synergy. To address these issues, this paper starts from real-world governance problems, an.alvzes the theoretical, historical. and practical logic of these strategies, constructs a synergistic development framework o“ element-industry-space-goverance”. It also defines key socio-economic indicators for measuring the level of this syner.gy. 'urthermore, through in-depth analysis of comparative case studies. the study validates the framework's explanatorpower, explores mechanisms for policy innovation, and reveals diverse pathways for synergistic development, thereby offer.ing policy insights for promoting urban-rural integration and the comprehensive advancement of Chinese modernization.

    HUANG Shoufeng, MA Qingshan
    2026, 01 (02):  60.
    Abstract ( 72 )   PDF (4736KB) ( 55 )
This study employs panel data from 283 Chinese cities spanning 2012 to 2021 to construct a measurement”“high efsystem for urban and national strategic zones’new quality productive forces, characterized by “high technology,”ficiency," and “high quality.” Based on this framework, the Dagum Gini coelficient is applied to decompose the regionaldisparities in new quality productive forces across six major strategic zones. Furthermore, a spatial panel regression model isused to examine both o-convergence and B-convergence. The results reveal several key findings. First, the level of newquality productive forces in Chinese cities-both nationwide and within the six strategic zones-has shown continuousgrowth during 2012-2021. Second, significant and deepening regional imbalances exist in the development of new qualitproductive forces, with interregional disparities constituting the main source of these differences. Third, the spatial distribution of new quality productive forces exhibits a multipolar patterm at both the national and regional levels. Finally, both oconvergence and B-convergence are observed in the development of new quality productive forces nationwide and across allstrategic regions. These findings provide critical insights into the current state of urban new quality productive forces in China and hold significant implications for promoting, coordinated and synergistic development of such forces across regions.

The Spillover Effects of Preschool Education: Evidence from Middle SchoolStudents’Academic Achievement and Mental Health
    DONG Caiting, XIAO Aiping
    2026, 01 (02):  90.
    Abstract ( 53 )   PDF (733KB) ( 49 )
Using the random class assignment sample from the China Education Panel Survey( CEPS) , this paper analyzes the spillover effects of classmates'preschool enrollment rates on the academic achievement and mental health of middle school students. 'The empirical results show that the classmates’ preschool enrollment rates have significant positive spill.over elfects on both academic achievement and mental health. Peers who received preschool education improved the classroom atmosphere, enhanced students'interpersonal relationships, and promoted students’ learning behaviors. For academicperformance, the spillover elfects of classmates’ preschool enrollment rates are primarily driven by peers with longer durations of prechool education, and are more pronounced among seventh and eighth graders. For mental health, the spilloverelfects of classmates’preschool enrollment rates are concentrated among disadvantaged students, with particularly strong improvements observed in eighth and ninth graders.

Theoretical Logic and Empirical Evidence of the Realization of EcologicalProduct Values Contributing to Common Prosperity
    WANG Yiqi, ZHEN Wenqing
    2026, 01 (02):  105.
    Abstract ( 47 )   PDF (593KB) ( 46 )
Based on the panel data of districts and counties in the Yellow River Basin, this paper investigates theelfect and mechanisms through which ecological product value realization on common prosperity. It is found that the realization of ecological product value can significantly promote common prosperity. Heterogeneity analysis reveals that the promotion elfect of ecological product value realization on common prosperity is more pronounced in areas located in the lower reaches of the Yellow River, non-provincial administrative boundaries, the proportion of ethnic minorities is low, the level ofhuman capital is high, and zones designated for optimized or key development, and the main production areas of agricultural products. Mechanism analysis indicates that ecological produet value realization promotes common prosperity throughthree main channels: (1) Exerts industrial ellects by promoting the development of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries, and upgrading and rationalization of the industrial structure. (2) Exerts employment and income effects by accelerating the mobility of labor, increasing non-agricultural employment, narrowing the income gap, and optimizing the income distribution. (3) Exerts environmental elfects by improving the ecological environment and strengthening the environmental regulations. Moreover, horizontal ecological compensation based on the realization of ecological product values in theYellow River Basin can significantly promote common prosperity.

How Do Green Benchmarks Drive Broad Reductions in Corporate Greenwashingthrough Point-Specific Actions: A Quasi-Natural Experiment Based
    SUN Wenjie, WANG Zihan
    2026, 01 (02):  120.
    Abstract ( 54 )   PDF (702KB) ( 55 )
Under the background of China's ongoing pursuit of its “ dual-carbon” goals, exploring how to leverage thepolicy demonstration and dilliusion ellects of voluntary environmental regulations to curb corporate "greenwashing” behaviorsholds significant theoretical importance for promoting high-quality green transformation of enterprises. This study utilizesdata from A-share listed companies (2013-2023 ) and employs a multi-period difference-in-dierences ( DlD) modeltreating the Green Factory Demonstration Project initiated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ( Ml'T) asan exogenous policy shock. We empirically examine how green factory certification inhibits greenwashing among local, un.regulated peer enterprises and explore the underlying mechanisms. The study finds that green benchmarks ( enterprises se.lected for the green factory project) exhibit obvious policy incentive and demonstration effects, which can significantly re.duce the degree of “ greenwashing” among local unregulated enterprises and promote their substantive greentransformation. These results remain robust across multiple sensitivity tests. Mechanism analysis indicates that green factorycertification suppresses greenwashing through three channels: network spillover effects, competitive incentive effects, andlearing effects. Heterogeneity analysis shows stronger inhibitory impacts on state-owned enterprises ( SOEs), manufactur.ing firms, and companies in regions with weaker environmental regulations. Furthermore, the certiication exhibits verticaspilover elfects along the supply chain, curbing greenwashing among upstream and downstream partners. This study expands the research boundaries of voluntary environmental regulation elfectiveness, provides novel evidence and insights forleveraging green benchmarking to combat industry-wide greenwashing, and olers practical implications for advancing cor.porate green information disclosure and substantive sustainability transitions.

    2026, 01 (02):  151.
    Abstract ( 45 )   PDF (716KB) ( 51 )
Based on the national survey data, this paper constructs a multi-dimensional employment vulnerability in.dicator system using, the Alkire-Foster method, measures the employment vulnerability of food delivery riders, and examines the structural features of riders' employment vulnerability through the decomposition of the A-F Index. The findings reveal that: ( 1 )83.796 of food delivery riders nationwide suffer from multi-dimensional employment deprivation, with an aver.age deprivation degree of 48.396. Low work income, excessive labor intensity, and lack of labor rights protection are the keyfactors leading to the employment vulnerability of this group; (2) From the perspective of individual characteristics, femaleriders with lower education levels and local rural household registration are more vulnerable in employment; from the perspective of job nature, full-time riders and non-exclusive riders face stronger employment vulnerability:( 3 ) Further analysis shows that work income, labor intensity, and job insecurity induce the differences in employment vulnerability amongriders with diferent individual characteristics, while work income, vocational training and occupational safety lead to thedierences in employment vulnerability among riders with diflerent job characteristics. This study provides insights for moni.toring employment quality and protecting labor rights and interests among informal employment groups.

Exploring the Relationship between Employment Quality and WorkersWell-being: Evidence from Taiwan
    WANG Hua, LI Zhiyi
    2026, 01 (02):  167.
    Abstract ( 58 )   PDF (697KB) ( 52 )
Labor is a fundamental means for individuals to create a beter life and achieve comprehensivedevelopment. Drawing on data from the 2020 wave of the Panel Study of Family Dynamics( PSFD ) in 'Taiwan and integratingMaslow's hierarchy of needs theory with the theory of employment potential utility, this study develops a three-dimensionaframework of employment quality, comprising survival, development, and relationship dimensions. Using this frameworkwe analyze how these employment quality dimensions alfect workers’ well-being. The findings indicate that : ( 1 ) Improvecemployment quality enhances both positive affect and cognitive well-being while mitigating negative allect, leading to enhanced overall well-being;( 2 ) Among the three dimensions of employment quality, relationship quality has the strongesiimpact on well-being, followed by development quality, while survival quality shows the weakest contribution; ( 3 ) 'Thewell-being elfects of employment quality demonstrate notable group heterogeneity, with relationship quality showing stronge!ellects for workers in developed regions, higher socioeconomic groups, and younger age cohorts. 'Through the lens of the“ hierarchy of labor value” model proposed in this study, we identify a stratified logic in the formation of labor-relatecwell--being, olfering a conceptual reference for tailoring policy responses to the differentiated needs of diverse labor groups.

Guarantees and Private Trade: The Comprador Contract Choicesof Foreign Firms in Modern China
    YANG He, LIU Pancheng
    2026, 01 (02):  183.
    Abstract ( 59 )   PDF (598KB) ( 64 )
This paper re-examines the compradors’ private trade within foreign companies in modern China throughthe lens of the comprador's role as a guarantor. Given the significant role of personal ties in modern Chinese commercialpractice, this paper argues that private trade embedded in local social networks was a crucial prerequisite for compradors toassume guarantee liability. The multitask principal- agent model constructed on this basis reveals that the autonomy olcompradors’ private trade increases with the proportion of idiosyncratic risk and decreases otherwvise; when idiosyncratic riskdominates, a positive correlation between risk and incentives may emerge. A case study of the Hongkong and ShanghaiBanking, Corporation provides appropriate empirical evidence for the theoretical analysis. Consequently, this paper no longeiviews private trade as a fundamental flaw of the comprador system, but rather as an endogenous choice made by foreign mer.chants to mitigate the credit risks associated with Chinese merchants.
